The Inter Religious Council of Uganda (IRCU) in partnership with Global Peace Foundation is organizing the first ever inter religious family festival this year.
The aim of the festival is to celebrate the vision of a family as a fundamental and basic unit of society.
According to the IRCU secretariat, the one day festival will happen on 29th June 2024 and will be preceded by numerous activities among them planting 120 million trees to counter effects of climate change.
In a meeting held today at the secretariat offices in Mengo to forge a way forward, Apostle Dr. Joseph Serwadda, the chairperson of the media and publicity committee of the festival, reiterated the need for the media to appreciate the role of the family and counter the challenges trying to erode family values.
The the festivities will be graced by various speakers including Dr. Hyun Jin Preston Moon the founder and chairman of Global Peace Foundation.
The secretary general of IRCU, Joshua Kitakule, said this initiative will unite all Ugandans regardless of cultural or religious backgrounds.
The festivities in June will also include: showcasing various traditional foods, dress codes and medicines; an exhibition of products and services from Uganda and a service camp to offer free services such as medical.
