Rubaga deputy RDC Herbert Burora flew too close to the sun and eventually got burnt.
The vocal Burora was suspended yesterday for allegedly using social media to undermine the very government he serves.
However, sources have told us that his source of trouble stems from his social media attacks on Speaker Anita Among, whom he has accused of mismanaging the House. We have been told that Burora was suspended following a complaint from the Office of the Speaker.
Over the past couple of weeks as the exhibition to expose the rot in Parliament gained steam, Burora, uncharacteristically became one of its most visible cheer leaders.
Attack after attack
Like a relentless bull dog, Burora’s attacks on Parliament had become unceasing. But specifically, Among became the main target of his vile.
Yesterday after news of his suspension became public, Burora tweeted, “Over my grave will my Children see a picture of me kneeling before @AnitahAmong. Karma is a bitch. Rt. Dishonorable Atutta Atubba Atumalawo welcome to the mud.”
Yet his most vicious post about the speaker was made on March 13, accompained by a picture of former minister Idah Nantaba kneeling before Anita Among.
In a lengthy post, Burora alleged that Among wanted to consolidate power and become the supreme leader in the NRM.
“Madam Anita is trying to make sure that she gets numbers both in Opposition, NRM and Independents in that, in case NRM doesn’t support her candidature in 2026 as speaker, she can go independent, since she has more sponsored MPs not loyal to either parties with majority MPs but to her. In the censure against Namuganza, she proved it. Though Mr. Museveni had met and asked the speaker to stop, she went on with the move simply because she wanted to show the president that she’s in charge of her Parliament,” the embattled RDC wrote.
“This bad Reggae must stop.”
With these attacks, some analysts predicted that it was only a matter of time before Burora was punished and indeed he was.
What next?
It is not clear how long Burora’s suspension will last. What is clear though is this action will not leave him the same.
An activist who made a name by throwing piglets at Parliament, Burora’s political stature had grown because of his social media posts which criticize government.
There is talk that this criticism has been well calculated to give him the political currency to contest for MP in Rubaga South in 2026.
