In 2018 while opening a session of the East African Legislative Assembly in Kampala, President Museveni declared his love for the then US president, Donald Trump.
“America has got one of the best presidents ever,” Museveni said as EALA MPs laughed.
“I love Trump because he tells Africans frankly. The Africans need to solve their problems, the Africans are weak.”
Museveni’s comments came after Trump had been accused of referring to African nations as “shithole” countries during an immigration meeting.
Trump denied making the remarks but people who attended the meeting said he did.
Trump, who lost to President Joe Biden in 2020, is currently involved in a tight race with US Vice President Kamala Harris for the White House. America goes to the polls on November 5.
