The Electoral Commission (EC) has issued a stern directive to nominated candidates for various local council positions, prohibiting them from campaigning before November 10, 2025, the officially designated start date for campaign activities.
This announcement comes as part of the EC’s efforts to ensure a structured and fair electoral process in line with its general elections roadmap.
On September 3, 2025, the EC commenced the nomination process for candidates vying for positions such as district/city chairpersons, mayors, and councillors across various regions.
At the Wakiso district headquarters, a significant number of aspirants from areas including Entebbe Municipality, Busiro South, Makindye Ssabagabo, Nansana Municipality, Busiro East, Busiro North, Kira Municipality, and Kyadondo East were successfully nominated.
Tolbert Musinguzi, the presiding officer for Wakiso, emphasized the importance of adhering to the EC’s timeline.
“Any candidate who engages in campaigning before November 10 will face legal consequences,” Musinguzi warned.
He said the EC roadmap is designed to maintain order and fairness throughout the election period.
Among the prominent candidates nominated for the Wakiso LCV chairperson position are Ian Kyeyune of the National Resistance Movement (NRM) and Flavia Nakafeero of the Democratic Front. Other candidates for various council positions were also confirmed, though specific names for additional roles were not disclosed during the nomination process.
Flavia Nakafeero has outlined an ambitious agenda for Wakiso if elected.
“I am committed to transforming Wakiso into a model district by prioritizing sustainable development and the well-being of our people,” Nakafeero said during her nomination.
