DP’s Maria Nassali vows to effectively utilize the Constituency Development Fund in Wakiso

Maria Nassali Masereka, the Democratic Party (DP) aspirant for Kyadondo East, has pledged to make effective use of the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) to benefit her constituents if elected.

Speaking to Bbeg Media today, Nassali, a renowned human rights activist, emphasized her commitment to leveraging the fund for meaningful development projects in Kyadondo East.

“I want to assure my supporters that the Constituency Development Fund, allocated by Parliament for development projects, has not been fully utilized by previous leaders. When you elect me as your MP, I will ensure it serves its purpose,” Nassali declared amid enthusiastic chants from DP supporters.

Accompanied by ululations and slogans such as “Nassali Oyee, DP Oyee, Kyadondo East Oyee, Our Lawyer Oyee,” Nassali promised to lobby the government for additional resources to enhance service delivery in the constituency.

She said the CDF could address poor road infrastructure, lack of access to clean water, unemployment among women and youth, land grabbing, swamp reclamation in urbanizing areas, inadequate school facilities, and the poor state of health centers.

Nassali stressed that the CDF comes from taxpayers’ money and is legally mandated to address service delivery challenges within constituencies. She urged Kyadondo East residents to hold their leaders accountable for its proper use.
In a pointed critique, Nassali accused the incumbent MP, Muwada Nkunyingi of the National Unity Platform (NUP), of prioritizing party interests over the constituency’s needs. She called on voters to oppose him in the 2026 elections, predicting his exit from Kyadondo East politics.

Nassali also expressed gratitude to DP officials for their support, which she said would bolster her campaign efforts to mobilize extensively and challenge what she described as NUP’s “selfish and hypocritical” leadership.

Political analysts remain uncertain about Nassali’s chances, as neither Muwada Nkunyingi nor Dr. Ali Moses has secured the NUP party card. Other potential candidates include Simon Magala (Independent), as well as contenders from the Democratic Front (DF), Patriotic Forum of Uganda (PFU), National Resistance Movement (NRM), and other parties.
