According to Nabboth Muhairwe, the Provincial Chancellor, the retreat is meant to strengthen governance of the church and provide an opportunity for diocesan chancellors to network and share experiences from different Dioceses.
“In this retreat, we have invited experts of canon law to help us have a deeper understanding of the law and other church laws. It will also help us create valuable networks amongst ourselves and orient new Chancellors on their roles and responsibilities,” Muhairwe said.
The lead facilitator of the retreat is Rev. Canon. Dr. Phil Ashey, the President of the American Anglican Council, one of the founding bodies of the Anglican Church in North America.
Canon Ashey is a former prosecutor and criminal law practitioner in California, USA. He helped draft the constitution and canons of the Anglican Church of North America(ACNA) in 2008-2009 and continues to lead the ACNA Committee
