Almorie Nagayi takes pageant experience, financial literacy campaign to Miss Uganda 2026

When the 22 finalists for Miss Uganda 2026 took to the stage at Sheraton Kampala Hotel for the Presentation Night, they were given an early opportunity to show the confidence and presence they will need when the crown is decided.

Among them was 19-year-old Almorie Nagayi Sophia, Contestant No. 19, representing Masaka City and the Central region.

Nagayi attracted attention with her confident stage presence as the finalists were introduced to the public ahead of the October 10 grand finale.

But while the Presentation Night gave the contestants a chance to make a first impression, Nagayi enters the final stages of the competition with an advantage that goes beyond her performance on the runway.

She already has experience in pageantry.

Before joining the Miss Uganda 2026 competition, Nagayi won the Miss Uganda High School title and later represented Uganda at Miss Teen International in India.

Her participation in the international competition gave her an opportunity to compete on a bigger stage and interact with contestants from other countries.

That experience could be important as she competes for the national crown.

Pageants require contestants to remain composed in front of large audiences, communicate clearly and present themselves confidently under pressure. Nagayi has already experienced some of those demands, having competed at both national and international level.

However, her Miss Uganda campaign is not centred only on beauty and stage performance.

Nagayi has placed financial literacy and vocational training for young women and girls at the centre of her “Beauty With a Purpose” project.

The campaign seeks to equip young women with practical knowledge about managing money, developing small businesses and gaining skills that can help them earn an income.

The focus is on helping young women become more financially independent by giving them knowledge and practical skills they can use in their daily lives.

For Nagayi, the project also connects with her ambition to pursue a career in international relations.

Her advocacy therefore gives her campaign a wider focus, linking the pageant to issues affecting young women beyond the competition itself.

Nagayi is among the 22 finalists who emerged from this year’s nationwide Miss Uganda search. The finalists were officially unveiled at the Presentation Night at Sheraton Kampala Hotel on September 18, marking another stage in the Road to the Crown 2026 campaign.

The competition began with a regional search across Uganda before the finalists were selected for the national contest.

The Presentation Night gave the public its first major look at the contestants as they prepare for the final stages of the competition.

Public voting is also part of the race. The contestant who wins the popularity vote will automatically secure a place among the top five finalists at the grand finale.

For Nagayi, the combination of previous pageant experience, stage confidence and an advocacy project focused on financial empowerment gives her a distinct story as she seeks the crown.

Her previous experience, however, does not guarantee victory.

The Miss Uganda crown will ultimately be decided at the grand finale, where the finalists will face the final stages of judging before one contestant is crowned Miss Uganda for the 2026/2027 reign.

Nagayi’s challenge now is to turn the experience she has gained from previous competitions into a strong performance when it matters most.

The October 10 finale will therefore provide the real test of whether her confidence on stage, international pageant experience and financial literacy campaign can set her apart from the other finalists.

For now, Nagayi has established herself as one of the contestants to watch.

The crown, however, remains open, with 22 finalists still in contention.
