Airtel Uganda will pay out an interim dividend of Shs 83 billion to its shareholders this year
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe!The dividend was approved by the company’s board of directors on November 22, 2024. Each shareholder will earn Shs 2.075 per share. The payout is expected to be completed by January 3, 2025.
The telecom company said the dividend will be paid electronically, net of withholding tax, to all shareholders as of December 16, 2024.
“Shareholders are advised to ensure that their dividend payment mandates are up to date,” the company said.
Airtel Uganda’s interim dividend payout is a significant development for the company’s investors, who will benefit from the distribution of the company’s cumulative retained earnings as of September 30, 2024.
On November 7, 2023, Airtel listed 10.89 percent of its shares on the Uganda Securities Exchange (USE) in compliance with Uganda Communications (Fees and Fines) (Amendment) Regulations 2020, which created an obligation for all national telecom operator licensees to list 20 percent of their shares on the USE.
