The last traces of businessman Apollo Nyegamehe’s vast wealth are up for sale, three years after he tragically died in an accident in Itojo, Ntungamo.

In a notice published in the Daily Monitor today, law firm AF Mpanga gave Aponye’s estate 30 days to clear outstanding debts, or else some of the residential houses, warehouses, and plots of land will be sold.

AF Mpanga was founded by David Mpanga, a prominent lawyer and minister for Special Duties in Buganda.

At the time of his death, Aponye was indebted to the tune of Shs 38 billion, and last year DFCU and Uganda Development Bank initiated legal proceedings to recover their money.

It is not clear for which bank David Mpanga’s firm is acting. However, the firm, working hand in hand with Cristal Advocates have moved to sell six properties that belonged to Aponye. These include a residential house in Lower Naguru, situated on half an acre; a warehouse in Nalukolongo, a piece of land in Makindye, a warehouse in Masaka, and a property in Mubende district.

Aponye’s city mall, above the old taxi park, was sold three months after his death. His Ntinda building, Aponye Complex, we are told, was taken over by one of his creditors.
