Sources at the OPM told Bbeg Media that Odongtho had been told to hand over to Francis Jjingo, a former NTV journalist who Nabbanja personally recruited in April.

“It is true that Charles has been told to hand over to Jjingo. But let us wait and see how things turn out,” a senior member of staff at the OPM told Bbeg Media.

Like we reported recently, Nabbanja and Odongtho have been at odds since the latter joined OPM in July last year. We reported that the prime minister had instructed Odongtho’s contract not to be renewed.

Apparently, Nabbanja did not like Odongtho’s outspokenness which she interpreted as “lugezigezi”.

The latest twist in this dramatic tale is that Odongtho has been trying to meet Nabbanja in person but she has rebuffed all the efforts. Sources told us that the last time the two talked on the phone, Nabbanja told Odongtho that her instructions (not to renew his contract) still stood.

Odongtho had hoped that the permanent secretary of the OPM, Dunstan Balaba, would intervene since he is the chief administrator of the ministry.

We have also been told that a group of elders from Nebbi, where Odongtho hails from and a few senior government officials, had tried to lobby on his behalf.

But it appears Nabbanja has had the last say and Odongtho is staring at the exit.
