Being a talented woman, she has endured several challenges. Sometimes she can’t sufficiently provide for her family. Other times she has to juggle so many things to make ends meet.

She now wants to realize her dream of being a cultural dancer and drummer on the international stage.

To get to this stage, she underwent a lot training at an early stage.

“It was not easy because I started training cultural dances when I was about eight years in school,” she says.

Nabayaza told Bbeg Media that showcasing her skills on the international stage will give her better opportunities to excel and earn more.

“I have been training and performing cultural dances on the local stage for more than ten years and I am now looking forward to an opportunity to compete with international dancers,” she said.

She said her dream is to set up a training centre for cultural dances in the UK but at the moment she has no money.

One of the highlights of her career, she says was visiting Kenya, Tanzania, Sweden, India and Japan to showcase her talent.

“It opened my eyes to many possibilities. I met new people and learnt the cultural values of some of the people in those countries,” she says.

Currently, she goes to schools imparting dancing skills to young people. But this is not enough.

In Uganda, dancers are among the lowest-income earners. The likes of Nabayaza need support and international exposure to realize their full potential.
