Akot Apel Rita, Stanbic Bank’s Chief Information Officer, said they were thrilled to continue supporting the Black Pirates.

“They have made us proud with their wins, and we want to see them achieve even more. Sports inspire young people in Uganda to dream big, and that’s a value we share at Stanbic,” she said.

Daniel Canowira, the chairperson of the Black Pirates, said the bank’s support has been key to their success.

“Since we started wearing the Stanbic jersey, we’ve won many trophies, including the 2025 title. This is our best season yet,” he said. He also noted that the club is one of the most organized in the Uganda Rugby Union.

The Rujumba Sevens is a major rugby event in Uganda, and Stanbic is helping the team shine. The bank’s digital platform, FlexiPay, will handle ticketing and payments, offering fans a smooth experience and discounts on drinks.

Stanbic’s support goes beyond rugby. The bank also backs football, basketball, and golf to engage young people and promote inclusion. Additionally, Stanbic is investing Shs 1 trillion over three years to support women, youth, and farmers with affordable loans and training.

“We are not just sponsoring sports. We’re helping build talent, excellence, and a stronger Uganda,” Akot said.
