What Museveni will say in tomorrow’s state of the nation address

President Museveni is scheduled to deliver the state of the nation address tomorrow like the Constitution requires him to. Those who have followed the president’s speeches over the years will know that he often repeats himself. His speeches within a given span of time tend to tackle the same issues. In fact, he often cracks the same jokes during the speeches. So here is what Bbeg Media predicts Museveni’s state of the nation address tomorrow will focus on.

Peace and Security

Museveni will most likely boast about the country’s security situation saying it has improved. He will talk about how the UPDF has crushed the ADF rebels in DR Congo.

He is also likely to talk about the increasing cases of criminality in Kampala and neighboring areas and assure the country that the culprits will be eliminated. He will blast the police for sleeping on the job and instruct them to shape up or shape out.

He could make a case for increased investment in security equipment and surveillance cameras within the city and neighboring areas.

Wealth Creation

The president will no doubt talk about how Emyooga and Parish Development Model have transformed the lives of people in rural areas. Expect him to read out some statistics about the money that has been given out under the programmes. He will also issue warning to public officials who steal money for the funds. He will also talk about the four-acre model and how it has worked wonders for some people. Museveni is likely to use his favourite phrase “Kidakyonka”, which means working for the stomach.

 Roads and power generation

This is another of the president’s pet subjects. He will give a general overview of the infrastructure situation highlighting how many kilometres have been paved from 1986 to today. Museveni will say that improved infrastructure lowers the cost of doing business. In the same vein, he will talk about the country’s efforts in increasing the amount of power generated and why we need more but cheaper electricity. The president will give an update on the oil situation and assure the country that it is on track for the first production of oil scheduled for 2026.

Agriculture

The president will talk about the agricultural sector. Don’t be shocked if he reads figures related to production of milk, matooke, coffee and other agricultural produce. He will talk about the need for irrigation schemes to boost production. The president will also talk about the fertilizer plant in Tororo and assure that soon, fertilizers will be affordable.
