Muyenga’s vocal local council leader, Yasin Omar was today beaten at the KCCA youth centre in Kabalagala, where the NRM was holding a sensitization meeting for the party’s registration exercise.
Omar, we understand, had not been invited for the meeting and he found it odd since he is the NRM chairperson for Bukasa-Muyenga Parish.
However, he insisted on attending the meeting, which did not go down well with other people.
“Someone informed me about the meeting but when I reached there, someone started punching me saying they don’t need me at the meeting,” Omar said.
He later managed to escape and returned with police officers who arrested the instigators of the violence.
He said he will pursue legal action against a one Godfrey Semata, who he claims was behind the chaos.
We have been told that for long there have been leadership disputes in the area.
