The Uganda Social Educational Welfare Association (UGASEWA), a charity organization established by Indians, has held its annual Ramadan orphanage and mosques charity programme, bringing together sponsors, volunteers, and community members to support vulnerable groups during Ramadan.
The event, held at Mukwano Mall in Kampala, saw the distribution of food items worth Shs 140 million to orphanages and mosques across the country.
Mohamed Saleem, the chairman of UGASEWA, thanked sponsors and contributors for their continued support. He singled out Mukwano Industries, Mandela Group, Sudhir Ruparelia, and Gateway Group, alongside individual community members, for backing the initiative.

Abdul Gafoor, a former chairman of the association, congratulated the current leadership for sustaining the programme and expanding its reach over the years.
Mohamed Vaheed, the coordinator of the charity programme and also a former chairman, said the initiative had grown significantly since its inception nine years ago.
“Our general body members are the key contributors to this success. The generosity of our sponsors and the commitment of our volunteers ensure that we continue to promote the true spirit of Ramadan through charity, kindness, and solidarity,” Vaheed said.
UGASEWA said it remains committed to supporting vulnerable communities and strengthening social solidarity through charitable initiatives across the country.
