Three Rwandan nationals among the dead as Jaguar bus collides with truck on Kampala- Masaka highway

Three Rwandan nationals were part of the eight people who died in today’s horrible accident in which a Jaguar bus collided with a truck along the Kampala -Masaka highway.

Police say the accident occurred at Kabaale-Bugonzi when the driver of the Jaguar bus attempted to overtake an unidentified vehicle, swerving into the opposite lane and colliding with the oncoming Isuzu Elf.

“The bus rolled multiple times, resulting in the deaths of eight passengers and injuries to 20 others,” said Michael Kananura, the Traffic police spokesperson.

The dead Rwandan nationals are: Marc Munyandamusa, 53; Lizzy Akalizza, 28 and Steven Kayinamura, 51.

The rest were Ugandans and include: Teopista Amaali, 39, a teacher; Hedwig Tushabomwe, 35, a resident of Entebbe; Angela Acam, a teacher and resident of Entebbe; Moses Awany, 46, a resident of Alebtong and Evelyn Natukunda, 31 a resident of Kyengera.

Police added that all the deceased were passengers in the bus.

They said they are still looking for details of those injured during the accident.
