Ssenyonyi tells shadow ministers not to give up fight for democracy

The Leader of Opposition, Joel Ssenyonyi has said they will not push back on their quest to push for democracy and respect of human rights.

Ssenyonyi made the remarks after witnessing the swearing in of the shadow cabinet at Imperial Royale Hotel.

He said they will be the voice of marginalized citizens.

“We pledged to execute our mandate of keeping the government in check, even as we voice the citizens’ concerns. I encouraged leaders to at all times be faithful to the citizenry. In doing our work, we may encounter challenges and frustrations from different corners, but we shall press on and execute our mandate without fear or favour,” Ssenyonyi said.

Francis Mwijukye, who was sworn in as shadow minister for Works and Transport, said his duty is to keep government in check.
“My role is also to provide alternative approaches and to speak for ordinary citizens in the sectors of Works and Transport. Together we can!” he said.

Karim Masaba, the shadow minister for Tourism and Wildlife, said he is ready to serve and ensure proper accountability of tax payer’s money in the tourism sector.

“I promise to always be so active in proposing alternative approaches as gathered from our ordinary citizens for a cohesive reconciliation without fear or favor,” he said.
