Iconic Ugandan broadcaster, Shaka Ssali has dismissed reports that he is dead.
In a short video from the US, where he lives, Ssali who retired from the Voice of America in 2021 assured friends and relatives that reports about his death have been “hugely exaggerated.”
Yesterday, there were reports making rounds on some social media platforms that Ssali had died.
His full statement:
I can assure just like a great American writer Mark Twain once said when asked whether reports regarding his death were positive, he said, “you can see me, you can hear my voice, you are looking at the authentic Mark Twain. Therefore, reports about my demise have been probably hugely exaggerated.”
I think it is fair to say that I have the legitimate right to borrow the great man’s words that indeed like Mark Twain, reports regarding my demise have been hugely exaggerated. And for my audience, the worldwide audience, the fans and relatives that have reached out to me with incredible messages of concern, I can say that is testimony like one philosopher once said that all of life is action, reaction and passion and that to ignore the action, reaction and passion of your time or generation is to risk not having really lived at all hence occupying space.
