Generation Seven, a pressure group affiliated to the NRM, has urged youth not to attend the planned March2Parliament scheduled for July 23.
Police, too, warned that they will not entertain the demo organized by youth activists to highlight misuse of public resources by Parliament and other institutions.
Addressing the media today, Stephen Mukasa, the coordinator of Generation Seven, said while they condemn corruption, the planned demonstration will instead stoke violence and chaos.
“We refuse to acknowledge demonstrations led by parliamentarians who are themselves suspected of corruption. Instead, we call upon these individuals to resign and pave the way for patriotic leaders who will prioritize the well-being of our nation,” Mukasa said.
He urged Ugandans to be cautious of the planned demonstrations, which he said may be exploited by individuals seeking to further their political ambitions.
“We have to stand firm in commitment to safeguard their country’s integrity and prevent situations like those that have occurred in Kenya,” he said.
Generation Seven said they will do anything to protect Ugandans and called upon youth to unite and ensure that Uganda remains a symbol of hope and prosperity for generations to come.
“Let us keep peace and embrace development and all government programs that are put in place for the socio-economic wellbeing of all Ugandans,” Mukasa said.
