Police with the assistance of other security agencies have foiled the attempted robbery of Equity Bank branch in Soroti.
We understand that the armed robbers made their way into the bank, early morning today with the aid of a ladder.
Police suspects that the robbers were helped by a security guard attached to SGA, which has been guarding the branch.
However, the failed to break the money safe, leaving them stranded.
Police later swung into action and arrested two people.
As the operation went on, a crowd gathered outside the bank.
In a statement, police spokesperson Fred Enanga said the suspects escaped from the scene.
“Our prior investigations indicate that the suspects escaped from the scene after failing to access the banking hall. No one was hurt, and no property or money was stolen. A security guard and his supervisor are being interrogated as part of our investigations,” Enanga said,
