PLU to discipline Frank Gashumba for ‘attacking’ Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba

The Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU) has summoned its senior leader Frank Gashumba to appear before its disciplinary committee over a post on X attacking security chiefs for the rising wave of insecurity in the city.

PLU is incensed that Gashumba’s post featured a photo of Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba, the CDF and chairman of PLU.

In a letter dated May 27 from Micheal Mawanda, the head of PLU’s central commission for Discipline wrote Gashumba is needed to appear before the commission on Wednesday May 29 at the PLU secretariat in Naguru.

In the post, Gashumba wrote: If you cannot protect Ugandans with their properties, simply resign. Every day we see social media clips of Ugandans being assaulted, robbed and even murdered by gangs on the streets of Kampala…if these gangs have overpowered you, you don’t qualify to wear our uniforms.”

The post had photos of the newly appointed IGP Abbas Byakagaba and Gen Muhoozi.

“Your words meant and were understood to be a public attack on the chairman of the Patriotic League of Uganda. Your words have damaged the reputation of our nascent organization and its leadership,” Mawanda wrote.
