Following this week’s meeting between President Museveni and the speaker of Parliament, Anita Among, the president has dispatched two aides to keep a close eye on the operations of Parliament.
Sources have told us David Mafabi, Senior Presidential Advisor on Special Duties, and Barbra Nabirye, Special Presidential Assistant for Special Duties, will keep the president informed about the goings-on in the House.
We were unable to establish what their actual mandate is but sources told us their role will be to fill him in on what takes place in Parliament.
We have also been told that the two are expected to write a weekly report on their findings and present it to the president.
The assignment comes amid reports of gross mismanagement of public resources by the House laid bare by the #UgandaParliamentExhibition.
Among welcomed the aides in a post on X.
“I was thrilled to meet with Mr. David Mafabi, Senior Presidential Advisor on Special Duties, and Ms. Barbra Nabirye, Special Presidential Assistant for Special Duties, who were dispatched by President Yoweri Museveni to support the Legislature on strategic matters. Our discussion covered various critical interests of our nation, and I’m grateful for their unwavering dedication to serving our country, ” she wrote.
