Masaka: Police rescues 10 children from traffickers

Police in Kabonera, Masaka, have rescued 10 children who were being trafficked to Tanzania. Two of them were girls.

According to police they got information that the children were being taken to Tanzania to do various jobs.

They were all under the age of 15 years and some were in school uniforms. They were being packed in a salon car.

Project Rescue Children and Uganda Cherished Children’s Foundation helped police track these children.

However, the traffickers reportedly disappeared and police is hunting for them.

The children were taken to Kimaanya police post where they will be processed and returned home.

This operation comes three weeks after police and Project Rescue Children rescued seven children who were kept in house in Mbale waiting to be trafficked to Kenya.

Despite the fact that there is a law against child trafficking, the practice remains widespread. Child trafficking is done for a number of purposes.

Many children in Uganda are trafficked for ritual purposes.
