Dorothy Kisaka and her deputy David Luyimbazi have been granted bail by the Kasangati Magistrates Court. The former KCCA leaders have spent more than two weeks in detention since they were charged with manslaughter. Also granted bail is Dr Daniel Okello, the former director of Public Health at the authority.
The trio was granted a cash bail of Shs 5 million each and Shs 100 million (non-cash) for each of their sureties.
Kisaka, Luyimbazi and Okello were charged with 34 counts of manslaughter and 21 charges of causing harm which led to the death of 35 people at Kiteezi. They denied the charges. The trio was ordered to deposit their passports with the court and seek permission before traveling out of the country.
