Joseph Kabuleta has said he is the alpha and omega of the National Economic Empowerment Dialogue (NEED) and without him, the party does not exist.
Kabuleta’s condescending remarks follow a leadership dispute within the newly registered political party triggered by the expulsion of some members of the party’s executive committee.
“NEED means Kabuleta without Kabuleta, there is no NEED,” he said at a press conference in Kabalagala.
“There is no funding that has been extended to NEED without going through me; therefore, there is only one faction.”
Asked why they had shifted their offices to Kabalagala from Rubaga, Kabuleta said their tenancy agreement in Rubaga had expired.
The developments come after Kabuleta summarily sacked NEED’s secretary general Charles Basajja, the party’s organising secretary Godfrey Ssetuba, treasurer Joe Nakibinge, and the national women’s leader Jane Namakula.
We have been told that Basajja was expelled for allegedly hobnobbing with the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM).
On July 23, Kabuleta announced that NEED will officially be unveiled as a political party, and it will start processing people who want to stand on the party’s ticket.
