LIST: Museveni pardons 84 convicted thieves

President Museveni, leaning on article 121, has pardoned 84 people involved in various kinds of theft. In total the president pardoned 130 people.

In a statement, the Uganda Prisons said the president had forgiven these people on health and humanitarian grounds.

Most of these pardoned were convicted of robbery, outright theft, burglary, shop break-ins, obtaining money by false pretence, breaking into vehicles, and other crimes.

Among the 130, two are women both convicted of theft: Hellen Asingwire and Angella Kwarisim.

Other people pardoned had been convicted of manslaughter, arson, unlawful posession of narcotics, malicious damage
