Dr Crispus Kiyonga appointed chancellor Makerere University

Dr. Crispus Kiyonga, one of the historical members of the NRM has been appointed chancellor of Makerere University. He replaces Prof Ezra Suruma whose term came to an end.

Kiyonga had retreated to private business after losing the Bukonzo West election in 2021. Between 1986 and 2016, he served in various ministerial positions. After 2016, he was appointed Uganda’s ambassador to China.

Prof Barnabas Nawangwe the Vice Chancellor, Makerere University congratulated Kiyonga on his appointment.

“His Excellency the President of Uganda has appointed Dr. Crispus Kiyonga as the new Chancellor of Makerere University. On behalf of Makerere University Council, I extend our warm congratulations to Dr. Kiyonga on this prestigious appointment and warmly welcome him to the service of Makerere University,” Nawangwe wrote on X.
