BBS TV reporter quits over toxic work environment

Robert Nestrooy Kayongo has quit BBS TV after eight years due to a toxic work environment, sources at the Mengo based media organisation have told Bbeg Media.

Kayongo was deputy news editor to Peter Muweesi. He quit today.

Sources however told us that the two never hit it off and did not have a good working relationship.

“He was frustrated and decided to leave,” said one of our sources at BBS TV.

Kayongo had distinguished himself in covering live political events.

Despite his frustartions at BBS TV, Kayongo decided to keep it civil in his exit message thanking BBS TV for providing him a platform to excel. Sources told us that he is likely to join NTV.

Kayongo’s farewell message

96 months ago, I walked into the doors of BBS Terefayina, a young adult high on passion, short on skills and full of dreams. I walk on a husband, father and a passionate skilled man.

Serving my king and the Kingdom has been my dream right from right Secondary school and the University where I was a chairman of Baganda Nkobazambogo Students Association and I was given a chance to work at BBS Terefayina not for what I had done or whom I know, but for what I could do.

I truly appreciate the opportunity to have worked here and grow in many aspects. I loved every single working day, even when it was a public holiday, I never missed work except for when I was on leave and I think a few days when I was sick. Everyday I showed up with a smile and worked hard to make it better than yesterday.

Where I lacked skills, BBS gave me an opportunity to learn. Where I was completely clueless, BBS had the confidence and trust in me and that gave me an opportunity to experiment.

BBS gave me opportunity to travel in every part of Uganda, Africa, Europe, Asia and North America, I am forever grateful.

During my 8 years of BBS I got the opportunity to network, collaborate and work with some of the best in the industry and each one of you made me a better person.

To the foot soldiers – always the best, super stars- Keep winning.

As I lace up my shoes unto my next journey, I want to say, I am truly grateful.

Thank you.
