Events promoter Balaam Barugahara has been named minister of State for Gender in the latest cabinet reshuffle announced by President Museveni today evening.
Barugahara is a businessman and vocal promoter of Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba’s presidential bid.
The president made few changes to the cabinet dropping Gorreti Kitutu, the minister for Karamoja and her deputy Agnes Nandutu who were implicated in the Karamoja mabaati saga last year.
Nandutu has been replaced by Florence Wamala Nambozo while Kitutu’s position has been taken by Peter Lokeris.
Also dropped is Vincent Ssempijja who has been minister of Defence. He has been replaced by his deputy, Jackson Oboth Oboth.
Museveni has also removed Gen Wilson Mbadi as Chief of Defence Forces and appointed him minister of state for Trade.
At the top, the president maintained the old guard in their posts with Jessica Alupo (Vice President) and Robinah Nabbanja (Prime Minister). The sickly Gen Moses Ali has also been maintained in his position as second deputy prime minister.
Other new entrants to cabinet are: Dr Kenneth Omona (minister of state for Northern Uganda) and Lillian Aber, the minister of state for Disaster Preparedness.
Omona has been replaced aby Asio Omaswa as Principal Private Secretary.
