The Observer Media Limited, publishers of The Observer newspaper, has shifted its offices from Plot 1 Tagore Crescent in Kamwokya to Dale Johnson Road, Kira Road.
They are now located between Rubis Petrol Station in Kamwokya and Kira Road Police Station.
Sources told us that the shift was triggered by an unbearable increase in monthly rent from their landlord, Faisal Mukasa, a city lawyer.
Observer, founded in March 2004, had occupied the single-storey building since 2008 after they left Ruth Towers in the city centre, which was their first location.
They leave Kamwokya with bitter-sweet memories. Within three years after shifting to Kamwokya, the paper expanded into a tri-weekly before shrinking again in 2017 due to economic reasons.
Sources have told us that the firm will officially occupy their new premises effective March 1, 2024.
