Furaha Finserve Uganda has partnered with SurePay to expand access to affordable school fees financing for families across Uganda.

The partnership will enable parents paying fees through the SurePay platform to access purpose-based school fees loans. The loans will be paid directly to schools to ensure continuity in children’s education.

Furaha said it has already supported more than 20,000 children to stay in school across over 5,000 schools nationwide. The company has also enabled thousands of parents to access credit for the first time.

The new partnership builds on Furaha’s existing collaborations with Diamond Trust Bank and Cairo Bank Uganda. These partnerships are aimed at supporting up to one million children to remain in school.

SurePay said the arrangement strengthens its platform by integrating financing into school payments, making transactions more seamless for both parents and schools.

Under the arrangement, parents will be able to access instant loans designed specifically for education. The financing is expected to help families manage school fees without disrupting children’s learning.

Schools are also expected to benefit through more predictable fee collection. This, stakeholders say, will improve planning, operational efficiency and the quality of education provided.

Dennis Musinguzi, the chief executive of Furaha, said the partnership reflects a shared commitment to ensuring children’s education is not interrupted.

“Our shared belief that a child’s education journey should be uninterrupted is reinforced in this collaboration. The innovation we have built underpins our commitment to solving fundamental challenges for parents and guardians in a meaningful and dignified manner, Musinguzi said.

Moses Okiror, the chief executive of SurePay, said predictable fee collection is critical for schools to operate effectively.

“Parents benefit when payments and financing are simple, secure and flexible. This partnership enhances the value we provide by integrating responsible school fees financing directly into the SurePay platform.”

Parents can apply for the loans for up to four children by dialling *165*80# or downloading the Furaha mobile application.
