Former New Vision photographer, Kennedy Oryema is dead

Renowned photographer, Kennedy Oryema is dead. Oryema, said to be in his late 40s, passed away on March 6. The cause of his death is not yet known but he was said to be battling ill-health for some time.
Oryema started working for New Vision in the late 1990s and had grown to become one of the most recognisable photographers on the media scene.
He took photographs at Parliament, covered the 2006, 2011 and 2016 presidential elections and documented the LRA conflict through his lens.
A couple of years ago,  he ventured into documentaries and film making with Maisha Film Lab. He was assistant director in the film, The Blade Runner and was Director in the film Defying.
Friends and former colleagues described him as a humble person who ways always willing to pass on his skills to young photographers.
Conan Businge, who worked with Oryema at New Vision, described him as a remarkable soul.
“As I look back on my early days in journalism, a journey embarked upon decades ago, I am reminded of the peace, comfort, and support I found in people like Kennedy Oryema. In the rigorous environment of a serious organization like New Vision. The significance of encountering souls so supportive and loving cannot be overstated,” Businge wrote.
Claire Muhindo, a journalist, decribed Oryema as a humble man who was good with his lens.
Burial arrangements are yet to be communicated.
