Balimwezo nominated to take on Lukwago

Ronald Balimwezo has been officially nominated as a candidate for the Kampala lord mayorship on the National Unity Platform (NUP) ticket. Balimwezo was nominated at the Electoral Commission (EC) offices in Ntinda.

He will challenge the incumbent Lord Mayor, Erias Lukwago in what is anticipated to be a competitive election.

Balimwezo outlined his vision for Kampala, saying he will focus on ensuring prompt and efficient garbage collection to maintain a hygienic urban environment, upgrading the city’s road network, and addressing corruption, particularly in procurement processes, to promote transparency and accountability in the city’s administration.

He said his extensive experience in local governance equips him to lead Kampala effectively.

“I have served in various roles, from LC1 Chairman to LC2, and later as Mayor of Nakawa Division. I am currently the Member of Parliament for Nakawa East,” he said.

Dressed in a red and deep blue overall, a red construction cap and matching red boots, Balimwezo tried to showcase his hands-on approach.

“I am not a leader who will be confined to an office. I will be on the ground, working closely with the people of Kampala to address their concerns,” he said.
