Police probing Victoria University lecturer over sexual harassment claims

Police have said they are going to write to the management of Victoria University to produce a senior lecturer for questioning over allegations of sexually harassing a co-worker.

In an interview with Bbeg Media, Luke Owoyesigyire, the deputy spokesperson of Kampala Metropolitan Police said the victim (names withheld) had recorded a statement with the police on Saturday February 17.

“The woman made a statement and we are making the file. We are going to write to university formally telling them to produce the suspect,” Owesigyire said.

The victim in earlier press statements said the lecturer had started by being good to her but later he started making unwanted advances.

One time the victim claimed the lecturer forced himself on her in a lift. That was the tipping point.

The victim also claimed that the same lecturer had been accused by students of hitting on them.

Efforts to get a comment from Victoria University were futile.
