Sharifah Buzeki, the commissioner of Human Resource Management in the ministry of Public Service, has been recommended to become the next executive director of Kampala Capital City Authority, reliable sources have told Bbeg Media.
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe! We have been told that Buzeki, who was the only woman on the final shortlist for the job, emerged the best in interviews conducted by the Public Service Commission (PSC) over the past couple of weeks.
Other finalists were: Sydney Asubo, the former executive director of the Financial Intelligence Authority (FIA); Gabriel Richard Atama, a former Chief Administrative Officer for Tororo, Serere and Kalangala districts; Godfrey Kisekka, a former employee of KCCA; Rogers Matte, Emmy Ejuku and others.
Buzeki’s recommendation does not mean she will automatically get the top because the final decision rests with President Museveni according to section 17 of the KCCA Act.
The law gives the president leeway to consider other factors (besides the advice of the PSC). But the PSC recommendation puts Buzeki on the front foot.
Should she get the job, she will be the third successive woman to occupy the post since KCCA was created in 2011.
We reported last month that Museveni had halted the search process for the KCCA top job after receiving complaints from some applicants who had not been considered at the first stage. But the process resumed.
The 90 days given to PSC to search for the replacement of Dorothy Kisaka and her former deputy David Luyimbazi elapsed yesterday (December 24). The duo was sacked in September after the Kiteezi landfill saga which led to the death of at least 30 people.
Who is Buzeki?
Sharifah Buzeki, said to be in her mid 40s, holds a Master’s Degree in Public Administration and Management, a Post Graduate Diploma in Human Management and a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Sciences all obtained from Islamic University in Uganda (IUIU).
In addition, she has attended numerous skills-enhancing courses and obtained certificates in conflict management, leadership and hcange management, monitoring and evaluation, training of trainers and facilitation skills; among others.
Her career has come to an end. The KCCA ED job is like the Man Utd managerial job. A graveyard for careers.
