Museveni appoints son, Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba, as CDF

President Museveni has appointed his son Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba as the new Chief of Defence Forces.

Muhoozi replaces Gen Wilson Mbadi who was named minister of state for Trade in today’s cabinet reshuffle.

Muhoozi, who joined the army in the late 1990s, has been Senior Presidential Advisor on Special Operations. He has served twice as commander of Special Forces Command (SFC) and also as commander of the Land Forces.

He announced last year that he haboured presidential ambitions and is the patron of the Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU).
