Rev Can Wilson Kisekka is the new Bishop of Kasana- Luweero Diocese. Kisekka was elected by the House of Bishops headed by Archbishop Kaziimba Mugalu.
Luweero diocese has been problematic with parishoners rejecting leaders who are not born in the area. They had prefered son of the soil Gofrey Kasana but he was eliminated by the Anglican Church after reports surfaced that he had sired children outside the wedlock.
It remains to be seen whether Kisekka will be warmly welcomed.
Kisekka holds a diploma in Forestry (MUK), Bachelor’s degree in Theology (UCU) and a Master’s Degree in Theology obtained at Kwazulu Natal University in South Africa (2008).
He has served the Church in different capacities, including the position of Parish Priest at St Peters church of Uganda Lugazi and Misindye Church of Uganda (Seeta) Archdeaconry.
